Local Performance Shops
This page lists the various performance shops in town that are known to work on
Mustangs, or provide other services. I also include my experiences (if I've had
work done at the shop in question). Generally, their web pages don't really thrill
or excite, so don't expect much in this regard.
I went there to have my front struts/springs/CC plates installed, but I
question their knowledge of the S197 platform. Despite having given them the instructions
on the CC plates, they neglected to install the appropriate strut spacers (which meant
the job took almost twice as long as it should have), and they didn't bolt the brake
lines back to the strut bracket. I probably won't be going back there.
South Texas Performance
I visited (they're about five miles from my house) to get esitmates for dyno pulls
($100 for three pulls) and gear swaps ($400), and I'll probably be going back. They
always seem to have a lot of New Edge Mustangs parked out front, and the owner seems
BTW, before visiting their web page, turn your speakers down. They automatically
play head-banger music, and there doesn't appear to be a way to turn it off. I
hate it when a web page does that.
Maximum Velocity Performance
None yet, but I'm going over there for a visit.
None yet, but I doubt I'll be visiting. I don't get a good vibe from what I've read
on the net. I know - it's completely unfair to form an opinion without direct experience,
so until I actually have direct contact with them, I'll reserve final judgement.
Finsanto Auto Repair
I went there for my front-end alignment after having the front struts/springs
installed, because they work on lowered cars. I think they managed to strip one
of the CC plate bolts, but then again, that could be the fault of Murillo. It's
hard to say, since the guys at Finsato pointed it out. I will go back for all
of my alignment needs.
